Shakotan NZ

Whats happening.....

WHERE IS THE NZ SHAKOTAN SCENE?

All about stance and old school JDM. I cant find much of it in NZ closest is the kiwis at OLDSCHOOL.CO.NZ but that's not shakotan. So this blog is for inspiration to myself and others wanting to ride in something epic and garage built.

WHAT IS SHAKOTAN?

Shakotan is another style which has gained a fair amount of usage outside Japan due in part to Shakotan Boogie, a manga by Michiharu Kusunoki, detailing the adventures of two brothers interested in Shakotan. This is a common term in use in Japan: ‘Shako’ means ground clearance and ‘Tan’ means short, so Shakotan cars are short ground clearance cars. The cars are more usually hard slammed with cut coils rather than just off the shelf coilover and racing suspension parts. The styles are much more restrained than those of Bosozoku and Grachan.

I'm going to start posting as many photos and links I can find on here and give shout outs to those others in the kiwi car scene that are doing an epic job.

Cut those springs, stretch those tyres on those ridiculously wide rims and get cruising!

Peace!
